I’ve been wondering if I would have preferred a Nook, but I really do love my Kindle, so I haven’t made any moves to replace it. Since watching a relative of mine receive his Nook, I’ve gotta tell you — I’m a Kindle owner for life!
First the packaging… It took him a half hour to figure out how to break into it just to get the Nook out. I then watched him spend the entire day, and I do mean HOURS, to figure it out before he even managed to get a book on it. It turned out BN was having all kinds of trouble that day and most people couldn’t get books. The next day, he finally got a book on it, but continually had to go back online to try to find answers to how to use the device. He tried calling customer service and couldn’t manage getting to a person. He has to manually add a bookmark when he stops reading, and if he powers off completely, it loses his place. It’s been nothing but a tangled, confusing mess since he got it. Now, I’m sure there is a learning curve, but this is also not a technologically challenged person. It was almost painful to watch! I didn’t have the heart to tell him when I received my Kindle I pulled one tab to open the package, and had my first book read before he managed to get one onto his Nook. I sure hope BN gets the kinks ironed out. You couldn’t pay me to own a Nook right now!
