J. T., you seem to have missed the point. We "Liberal types" are definitely in favor of free expression, including your right to read, write and publish any kind of Christian work you wish. Yes, wqe believe in FREE expression.
I agree with you guys… traditional publishers are still looking at eBooks as a threat instead of as an opportunity. They see it as something that will cost them print sales, instead of a new way to be profitable without paying printing, shipping, storage, and return costs.
But it’s not like they have told him "too bad". They are willing to work it out, but they need time. From all the wonderful things I’ve heard about Amazon’s CS, I’m sure they ARE concerned but need to figure out how to do this the best way for all involved.
Just because they don’t/can’t solve it the exact way YOU think they should and in the same time frame you HOPE they will, doesn’t mean they aren’t doing the right thing. Just like at the airports…we have to expect inconvienence to be protected.
Did you ask the CS Rep if he / she was in India? I always find it interesting to ask where they are located. Many times, they are in a small town in the U.S. The call center near me employs many people of many ethnic backgrounds.
The person you were talking to could very easily have been located in America.

If I understand the new terms and conditions for digital book sellers, they can’t exceed the lowest suggested retail price of any "digital or physical edition," which I assume means the print edition, so at least you won’t see higher prices than the paperback.
This is an important era, because consumers really have a chance to help determine the value, and therefore the price. Many indie authors, like me, are setting the price at $1.99 for a novel. But some consumers think "cheaper means lower-quality." Others are willing to pay a lot for the convenience.
But I’m sure the prices will eventually settle down in a year or two to an industry standard. Right now, there are two industries, with different motives: major publishing industry and independent authors who just want an audience. And then there is Amazon, an industry unto itself.
