If you like your Iphone for the Kindle app better than the Kindle, you should never have bought a Kindle in the first place. You could just read books on your laptop.
I think that’s what the pro-backlight people appear to just not understand: that a technology with a backlight already exists. It’s called a laptop. The entire reason the Kindle exists, and the ONLY REASON it needed to be developed, is because many people experienced eyestrain when reading ebooks on their computer. The Kindle was made because a bunch of engineers sat down and said, "Let’s make an ebook reader that IS NOT LIKE reading books on your computer."
A Kindle with a backlight would not be a Kindle. It would be a really, really crappy laptop with only one function.
If you want a backlight, you paid for an ebook reader for no reason. Send it back, get a partial refund, and just read books on your laptop instead. And have fun with your eyestrain.
