Did you ask the CS Rep if he / she was in India? I always find it interesting to ask where they are located. Many times, they are in a small town in the U.S. The call center near me employs many people of many ethnic backgrounds.
The person you were talking to could very easily have been located in America.
I find that speaking slowly, clearly and in short sentences helps them understand me. After all, they are trying to speak a "second" language, not their native language. I always figure their English is better than my Hindi, so I give them a break. I just think how funny I must sound to them.
